Taking over the World in Livingstonia – Malawi

    15/10/2020 /

Three, two, one, hold your breath! We curled in our chins into our chests, closed our mouths and covered our eyes. The dust lifted by the truck driving in the opposite direction swallowed us for a few seconds. When the air cleared, I straighten myself back up. Standing at the back of the open van, hands firmly holding onto the metal bar, the dry hot breeze that gently sways the scarf tied on my hair is enough to make me feel like I can take on the World. Well, at least Malawi… And by this I mean: we managed to get a “taxi” the way locals do! Some people might…

The biggest sun rises above Malawi

    28/03/2020 /

Sunrise, I have been fortunate to witness it in almost every country I have been to. And all sunrises have this one thing in common: hope. It is the light after the darkness, the promise of another chance at life, the reminder that there is still hope. And yet, to me, Malawi holds the prize for the ‘most beautiful sunrise’ I have ever seen! Well, the sun was the biggest and the hope found in every Malawian smile was the brightest! My time in Malawi was rather short: we spent 2 nights in a campsite by the beach in Chitimba and 2 nights in Kande before we headed to Zambia.…

    Horse Riding in Lake Malawi

    19/01/2020 /

Meet Alfie, he lives in a horse farm that is also a yoga retreat in Kande, a small village located by the lake Malawi. Before the sun was in full swing, we went for a ride through the outskirts of Kande village. Now I have to admit that I don’t know how to horseride, but I had a volunteer from Kande Horse Farm leading Alfie the majority of the time and giving me tips to bound with Alfie. Alfie was such a sweetheart but he also gave me a “kick of adrenaline”… when me and Alfie were posing alone for a photo in the forest, he decided to switch to a…

The year when childhood dreams came true.
I married the love of my life in a princess dress. And had the sweetest page boy, who was the star of my year. He is a giver of joy and slabery kisses.

Feeling so blessed! 🙏
30.11.21 🕊 It was raining, but I didn’t know 30.11.21 🕊

It was raining, but I didn’t know that. My whole body and mind were focused on the journey to meet you.

The nurse gave me a room with a pool and daddy was in charge of keeping the temperature right for us. I walked in that hospital with 2 hearts and 4 lungs, in love with my ever growing belly.

I was so excited to meet you and yet gutted that soon you were not going to be kicking from the inside. But you were ready to come out into the world and I was bursting with love to give to you.

I didn’t know what to expect, what I was going to call you, what songs I was going to sing to you. I didn’t know how my life was going to change, what would feel like to be a mother.

I didn’t know if you were a boy or a girl but you were everything I wished for. Our little miracle, magically growing inside my body.

The night was long, but the hour leading up to the minute you were born was fast. A room full of doctors and midwives pulled you out quickly to save our lives. Tears streamed down my face when your cry filled the theatre at 13h08. “It’s a boy, it’s a boy!”- the famous daddy words!

I have been waiting for you my whole life and I can’t believe I am finally getting to know you.

You arrived brave, sweet and curious: a laid-back explorer of the world.

Today I am sitting here in tears because I have a one-year-old son! It’s surreal! They were right, time flies and it is so unfair when all you want to do to is cuddle your little baby for a little longer. But you learn fast, and before I knew it, you were lifting your head up, sitting up on your own, crawling across the house and 2 days ago you let go of my hand because you can walk on your on now, somehow...

So, here’s to you, meu Anjinho, Amor da mama, meu Tesourinho.

Here’s to a year of singing “You are my sunshine”, cuddles to sleep and your little hand on my neck to sooth you.

Here’s to you, repeating “ma ma ma ma” and now you tell everyone proudly that I am your "mama mama".

Here’s to your passion for gui’TAR and your singing duets with daddy.

Here’s to mornings watching Paddington, cuddling in the sofa.
